The new General Data Protection Regulation defines personal data as any data that allows the direct or indirect identification of an individual. It aims to provide EU citizens with a uniform approach to privacy protection in the European Union.
The law applies to companies that process and manage personal data of European citizens, whether their headquarters are located within the European Union or outside, including websites and e-shops.
